Transformer Basics
A transformer is one of the simplest electrical devices
available today. It transfers energy from one circuit
to another circuit by magnetic coupling. A power
transformer consists of two or more coupled
windings, and in most of the cases, a magnetic core
to focus magnetic flux. A changing voltage applied to
one winding makes a time-varying magnetic flux in the
core that induces a voltage in the other windings. These
power transformers comes in a range of sizes from a
thumbnail-sized coupling transformer hidden inside a
stage microphone to a huge gig watt units that are used
to interconnect large part of national power grids.
In fact all transformers operate with the same basic
principles and with few similarities in their parts.
Competitive Magnetics provides high quality current
transformer. These current
transformers are normally used in metering
and protective passing on in the electrical power industry
where they help the secure measurement of large volume
current, in the presence of high voltages. In other
words, a current transformer is a kind of “instrument
transformer”, which is designed to offer a current in
its secondary that is accurately proportional to the
current flowing in its primary.
Today inductor plays a very important role in storing
energy. It is a passive electrical device working in
electrical circuits for its property of inductance.
Inductor could take many forms. It is usually constructed
as a coil of conducting substance, classically copper
wire, coated around a core either of air or of ferromagnetic
material. . Core materials with an advanced permeability
than air confine the magnetic field directly to the
inductor, thus increasing the inductance. Inductors
as well come in many shapes. Transformers actually rely
on the principle of magnetic induction among coils to
convert voltage and/or current levels.
Competitive Magnetics further specializes in electronic

step down transformer, isolation transformer, low voltage
