China State Grid is planning to construct an ultra high voltage (UHV) transmission line by next 4 years. This plan would cost nearly $14.6 bn. This plan would benefit domestic power T&D equipment market, China's power transmission and many transformation giants like Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electric Co.Ltd and TBEA Co.Ltd. On January 16, China's first 1000 kV ultra high voltage transmission line came into formal operation. Government is planning to build 4200 km of UHV transmission lines by 2010. Government is planning to construct 3 UHV (directing current) DC transmission lines to connect different states in china. At present, State Grid has two projects. It has to construct two UHV DC transmission line from Xiangjianba to shanghai and Jinping to Nanjing. These two projects will be completed in 2010 and 2012 respectively. Another project from Yunnan to Guangdong is under construction, which has a 1300 km UHV DC transmission line. The market for converter transformer, converter value and control and protection system would go upto 29.8bn yuan, 33.9bn yuan, and 8.1bn yuan.
