Current transformer home >> Transformer news >> Power transformers: Residents block lucknow-Rae Bareli highway due to outage problem
Thursday, September 4, 2008
People in Lucknow were angry with the government due to repeated power outage problem. Residents blocked the Lucknow-Rae Bareli highway for this reason. It was not until police intervened that the blockade was removed. Residents said that there were power cuts ranging from 10 to 18 hours in a day. They urged the Lucknow electricity supply administration (LESA) to take immediate action. But the residents got a poor response from LESA. This was not the first time that the residents were agitating in protest of poor power situation in their locality. The residents were following Gandhi's way of non-violence. But LESA do not understand the language of gandhigiri. Residents are facing the outage problem from last 2 years ever since this area has witnessed substantial growth. Feeders develop snags and transformers get burned. If the transformers are overloaded then why do the authorities not improve the infrastructure? Many areas in and around UPIL are also facing outage problem after a 5 MVA transformer developed a snag. Many areas are facing outage problems in Lucknow.
