Beijing has invested over $2.91 billion to increase its grid capacity so that there is no outage problem in Olympic Games. Beijing has built nearly 100 transformer stations to increase power supply for Olympic Games. Thousands of workers have worked for the city so that there is no outage problem during games. According to State Grid Corporation of china, there has been a power shortage of nearly 17.16 GW which the company is trying to supply.

Major part of energy supply is coming from Shanxi and Inner Mongolia so that there is no outage problem in Beijing. Shanxi has major power shortage during summer. But power shortage has eased in Shanxi to below 1.5 GW, an improvement from the 5 GW earlier. The countries leading power generating groups like china huaneng group, china dating group, china guodian group, china huadian group and china power investment group will see losses in its business in the first half of the year.
